Explicitation

KategoriakEnglish

In its common meaning, explicitation is the process by which some concept or fact that until then has remained on the sidelines or hidden in a discourse is brought to light, verbalized, explained or explicitly expressed. For example, when resolving a conflict between parties, a process of explaining the reasons that have led to the conflict is necessary, bringing them to light, so that it will not happen again. The concept of explicitation may be also applied to sentences, giving details about what is not mentioned in the sentence; for example "I am waiting" may be explicited with "I am waiting inside the restaurant".
